Club events have been announced for August and we urge anyone interested to take note and ensure their attendance!

The Gaels will be hosting a quiz night on Friday 1st August at 8.30pm in the Arlington bar, Woodlands Road. It will be the standard affair with £2 entry fee per person and no limit on people in a team. There will be some tasty prizes on offer and we urge all members to attend what is sure to be a great social night for the club.

The Gaels will be hosting a race night on Saturday 30th August in PJ Champs, Byers Road. Last June the Gaels hosted a very successful race night with some superb prizes and this years is going to be even better! We ask all club members to ensure they get a race sheet to sell asap from Damo.

The league final that was due to be played on 8th July has been postponed until further notice.

The Gaels are through to their first final of the season after beating Dundee Dalriada to make it to the league final. In their last league fixture, the Gaels had a comprehensive victory over Dundee winning 3-25 to no score.

The Gaels will now play Dunedin Connollys  in the league final on Tuesday 8th July @7.30pm in Epieside Park, Coatbridge.

The Gaels league campaign has levelled out and gained momentum over the last few weeks. Handsome victories over Sands McSwineys(3-11 to 0-8), Dunedin Connollys (2-9 to 1-1) and Tir Connail Harps (1-13 to 0-9) have all been notched up in the last month and have put the Gaels within touching distance of another League final.

The Gaels have commenced their League campaign and, after a stuttering start, have made a little progress.

Results:

Glaschu Vs Sands Gaels drew 0-10 to 1-07

Connollys Vs Glaschu Gaels lost 4-08 to 0-13

Tir Conail Vs Glaschu Gaels drew 1-06 to 0-09

Sands  Vs Glaschu Gaels won 3-11 to 0-8

Next game is versus Connollys in Thornley Park, Paisley on 29th May @7.30pm.

Go raibh míle míle maith agaibh go leir for everybody's support at the Aidan Murphy memorial match yesterday (26/1/08).

In light of the tragic episode of Phil O'Donnell's death, and combined with current GAA initiatives, Glaschu Gaels have now included information on cardiac screening on our website. This can obviously be found on the new cardiac screening page. If you answer YES to any of the questionnaire then you should contact your GP as soon as possible.

Various high profile sportsmen, including Tyrone legend Cormac McAnallan, have died from heart defects in the past decade that might have been detected if early intervention had taken place. We urge ALL PLAYERS to undertake the questionnaire (and send the questionnaire results to the club secretary) for their own piece of mind and safety.

Glaschu Gaels GFC AGM took place on Sunday 25th November.

The new Glaschu Gaels committee is as follows:

Chairman - Barry Quinn

Vice Chair - Cathal Heron

Treasurer - Ciaran Scullion

Secretary - Sean Huddleston

Manager - Gareth Doonan

Ladies Team Manager - Paul Gallagher

Ladies Team Officer - Aileen Breen

Glaschu Gaels are currently recruiting players for both our Male and Ladies teams.
